The East London Explorer - 18th May 2003
On Sunday 18th May CHTL operated our first railtour for almost three years. Starting at Uxbridge the train travelled down the Metropolitan mainline to Baker Street, then on to Upminster. After a lunch break during which passengers were able to visit Upminster signal cabin the train returned to Central London for an almost complete circuit of the Circle Line before using the Whitechapel St Mary's curve, not used by scheduled passenger services since 1941, to reach the East London Line. After a reversal at Surrey Quays the train arrived at Shoreditch, where a short break allowed more photographs to be taken. Following another reversal at New Cross Gate the train returned to Uxbridge via Earls Court and Acton Town.

Once again we would like to thank the directors of CHTL and those members of LUL staff whose hard work made such an enjoyable day possible. A donation will be made to the District Line nominated charity the RNIB.
